The Frugal Foodie

This Week's Recipe Reveal + a Genius Tip

I love food, and I love reading about food.  My recipes come from all kinds of sources--hand-me-downs, cookbooks, magazines, food blogs, google searches.  I'm going to start sharing my recipes with you, in case you'd like to make something again, or in case you just want to follow along the blog and do the dirty work yourself!
If you get married & invite me to the wedding,
you will be receiving this book as a marriage gift!
Yogurt-Marinated Grilled Chicken
This one came from my new favorite cookbook (still in-process of reading/savoring): "Dinner: A Love Story," by Jenny Rosenstrach.  Check out her yummy blog that inspired the book here.

Greek Pasta Salad
A Pinterest find from Saveur magazine.  Recipe can be found here.

Chimichurri Nachos
A selection from Food Network Magazine's new book: "1,000 Easy Recipes," which can be purchased here.  I checked it out of the library and sadly had to return it unread due to being so absorbed in my other library cookbook (see above).

Eleven Madison Park's Strawberry Gazpacho
Much to my husband's relief, I have had my gazpacho fix for awhile.  (He is not a fan of cold soup, in general.)  I'm interested to know what you think of this one.  I found it on Food 52's Pinterest, via their blog.

Pizza with Grape Tomatoes & Zucchini
The toppings came from my brain.  The crust is a favorite recipe from here.  (The Once A Month Mom website is a super resource for anyone wanting to make their meals ahead of time or, as they practice, once a month.)

And a genius tip that my husband brought to me this weekend:
When you need to cut a bunch of cherry/grape tomatoes, find two lids and place as many tomatoes between them as you can.  Then, gently pressing down on the top lid with one hand, use your other hand to slide a chef's knife through the middle of the bunch.  Voila!  How handy is that?!
